The SOS File Book Review
By Betsy Byars, Betsy Duffey, and Laurie Myers

“Have you ever needed to call 911, but you didn’t have a phone? Have you ever needed to yell ‘Help!’ but your throat was dry with fear?”

Mr. Magro had the idea of the SOS File. So, since he’s narrator of the book, I’m going to give you characteristics of Mr. Magro. First of all, he’s, intelligent, thoughtful, and helpful. He is all those things because he thought of the SOS File, and he could help the children with their problems, or SOS’s, and so could other children in the class who have read the SOS File.

That’s exactly how the SOS File by Betsy Byars, Betsy Duffey, and Laurie Myers started. The main idea is that, if anyone has problems in Mr. Magro’s class, they can solve those problems with others. In this file, you’ll find SOS’s which include files that, go wrong, files which lead to confidence, and a couple of other different SOS’s.

While reading the SOS File, I felt sorry for the children who got into a really bad situation(even if the situations weren’t real), or got hurt badly in a serious accident. But, the SOS File was very funny, because some of the situations were actually pretty funny, and made me giggle or produce a surprised, happy face! I also had some connections to other books I’ve read. Like the story my sister wrote about a girl, who got on stage with fear, but found her confidence.

I would recommend this book to people who need to stay strong, and find their confidence, instead of hiding under their shell after an embarrassing moment, or a serious situation. I’d also recommend the SOS File to people who love to laugh at funny situations, or like to think about how they could boost their confidence. This book is really fun, and you may learn some problem helping tips, throughout this marvelous, funny-coated book, called, The SOS File by Betsy Byars, Betsy Duffey, and Laurie Myers!
